Haunting Adventures at Black Brook Cemetery

May to November
Length of tour: 4 hours
Driving time: 1 hour
Maximum 4 people
Welcome, brave adventurers, to the Black Brook Cemetery tour—a spine-tingling journey into the haunted heart of Cape Breton. Whether under the sun’s glow or the chilling cloak of night, prepare to meet the restless dead.
Our eerie adventure begins in Port of Sydney, guiding us to the foreboding grounds of Black Brook Cemetery. Let the island’s haunting beauty set the scene for ghostly tales that await.
Among weathered headstones and ancient trees, Catherine Hastie keeps watch over her beloved Captain Peter Agnew Appleton. The spirits of Anne Tutty and Annie Bella linger, their tragic fates woven in love and rivalry.
As we conclude our journey, listen for secrets that echo through the air. The spirits here never rest; they whisper of longing and unfulfilled lives. Will you dare to uncover their chilling stories? Step into the shadows and let the echoes of the past become part of your own tale. Join us, if you dare—but beware, for the spirits are waiting…

Step back into 1744 while French soldiers march down the streets of the town. Cannon fire shakes the ground and muskets can be heard firing from the Soldier's Guard House. Baking bread aromas drifting from the stone bakery. Chat with fishermen, sailors and servants. Sip rum and watch lace-making as children play 300-year-old games and stew simmers on an open-hearth fire. It’s so real, it seems surreal.
You may explore on your own, view daily demonstrations of music, dancing, cooking, military drills, and much more.
